SMITH, Shirley May – Passed away peacefully at McNally House on Thursday March 10, 2016 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late James H. Smith (1999). Loving mother of Chris (Lynn) and Shirley Anne (Tom) Emerson. Dear grandmother of Casey Smith, Janine (Dale) Doiron, Brentyn Emerson and great-grandmother of Jayden and soon to be great-granddaughter. Sister of Peter Elphinstone, Sharon Kares, sister-in-law of Barb Elphinstone, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother William (Bill) Elphinstone. Life-long best friend of Joan Hedden and the late Roy Hedden. A sincere thank you to Drs. Yellamenchili, Okawara and Halleck of the Walker Family Cancer Centre and all the nurses and staff. Your compassion, smiles and encouragement helped us through this difficult journey. Mom always had a smile for you. Thank you also, to Dr. Mackett and his wonderful team for helping with her last wishes, Lincoln Park Retirement Residence, WLM Hospital, McNally House and the nurses and care team from CCAC and ParaMed – Barb and Nelly. The family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Grace United Church Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. In memory of Shirley, donations may be made to McNally House.
