JOHNSON, Grant G. – 1934 – 2013 - Passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday December 9th. Born in Winnipeg at the height of the ‘Dirty 30’s’ he became a true entrepreneur. Certified as a public accountant he worked for Ogilvie Mills and Arnold Bros. Trucking Company as a Comptroller. He went on to become a chartered accountant opening and managing three offices in S. W. Manitoba. The business grew and he had a number of employees but still found time to pursue other business interests including operating Valley Royal Travel Co. and Valley Royal Apiaries, Gladstone Concrete Products and Hammond Road Construction Co. He enjoyed camping, fishing, remodeling homes, fine woodworking and was a ham radio operator. He loved flying and received his private pilot’s license. He was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was a devoted Catholic and a supporter of all the church’s activities. He is survived by his wife Peggy, his children Kris, Wendy, Theressa, Paul, Rhoda and John, his stepdaughter Delwyn, 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Grant was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was young at heart and delighted in travelling with his family and sharing new experiences with them. He was caring and generous helping those in need without question and to the best of his ability. You could always count on Grant to give a hand. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 73 Picton St., Niagara-on-the-Lake, Friday December 13th at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
