Condolences

Condolence From: Henry Padwick
Condolence: Anne and family, I was saddened to hear yesterday of Bob's passing. We worked on various projects of mine over several decades and I was about to call him on the survey of "Nipntukat", my latest project, a very innovative catamaran, finally launched in July last year. It was fun visiting him at his offices, as he always had something new on the go, to show me. Far more than a Naval Architect, a great raconteur and a good chap. I will miss him. I share with you his loss. Fondly. Henry Padwick

Condolence From: Colin Curragh
Condolence: I wish to express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the Johnston family. I have known and worked with Bob for about 35 years. We have much in common as my parents are from Northern Ireland and my great grandfather was a Belfast shipbuilder. In the mid 1980's I was laid off from Port Weller Dry Docks and Bob was kind enough to give me a job as a draughtsman to tide me over. As a Federal Marine Safety Inspector I have worked on numerous projects with Bob over the past 25 years. I will always remember his kindness and generosity. Colin Curragh, Sarnia, ON

Condolence: Bob, I will miss you. I enjoyed the projects that we had worked on together over the past 20 years, especially those involving the various jet boats, the Sunset Queen and Belle. And our many chats about local and marine history or the gardens that surrounded us. Rest in peace my friend. Murray

Condolence From: Joe Moder
Condolence: Only known Bob for a few years as he worked with Manitoba Pioneer Camp in drafting a marine survey for our vessel (the Pioneer III) there. Such a delightful fellow. I heard he was hoping to come to camp soon. Our director, Pete Dearborn, just arrived at the camp today through and around the ice! Bob and I connected with another friend who worked with Bob many years ago when Bob was over seeing the construction of a grain carrier for Richardson's here in Winnipeg. Condolences to family and friends there. If possible as you begin to sift through Bob's papers etc. please consider contacting us about anything that he had on record for the Pioneer III. This would be a very important legacy to his contribution to Manitoba Pioneer Camp. Blessings, Joe Moder, former director and Member of the MPC Site Committee
