Life Story for Robert Charles "Bob" Johnston

Robert (Bob) Charles Johnston - Born April 7, 1942 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Educated as a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, emigrated to Canada in 1964. Worked on numerous ship design projects, including service at the Canadian Coast Guard College as an instructor of Marine Engineering, within Canada and internationally until up the day of his passing on May 3, 2018. Independent thinker and lifelong learner through book clubs and poetry who also studied Archeology and Classics as a mature student. Resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake for 45 years. A lover of sandwiches, exquisite ties, and exotic pieces of clothing who was never afraid to be who he was. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann for 54 years. Father of Rob (Beth), Tara (Andrew) and Colin (Gordana). Grandfather of Joshua, Halle, Robbie, Meg and Emma. Fondly remembered by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent St., in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Wednesday May 9th from 6-9 p.m. A service to commemorate the life of Bob will be held at St. David’s United Church, 1453 York Rd., St. David’s on Thursday May 10th at 11am. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association in Bob’s honour.
