ENGEMANN, Rose- Peacefully, on April 26, 2018 at Garden City Manor at the age of 91. Cherished wife of the late Joseph (2002). Loving mother of Joe “Jojie” (Lorraine), Rosemary (Larry Devreede), Earl (Mandy), Tom and Tim. Proud grandmother of Alison, Adam, Justin, Sean, Shannon, Javin, Samantha, Stylanna, Rosalyn, Cole and Christy. Great grandmother of Rowan, Luke, Ellia, Ava, Isabella, Ethan, Michael and Austin. Survived by her brother-in-law Peter Swan and her nieces and nephews.
Rose was co-founder with her husband Joe of the Spartan Athletic Club of St. Catharines, which helped to support all children, particularly those in need, in allowing them to play organized sports. She has been inducted into the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame, Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. She has also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ontario Government.
Rose is at Morgan Funeral Home, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake where her family will receive friends on Monday, April 30th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Church on Tuesday morning, May 1st at 11 o’clock. Cremation to follow. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Niagara or to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Niagara.
