Life Story for Barbara Elaine Evans

EVANS, Barbara E. (nee Coates)
Barbara passed away peacefully on December 5, 2017 at Chateau Gardens in her 87th year. She was the loving wife of the late David Evans (2016), beloved mother of Antony, Mark and Gillian and dear sister of Bernice Owen. Her niece, nephews and extended family and friends, will fondly remember her.
Barbara was born and raised in Winnipeg. After completing her education at the University of Manitoba, she moved to Montreal in 1952. She met her husband, David, while they were both working at J. Walter Thompson. After marrying, they lived in Mississauga where Barbara opened an antique store in Yorkville called the Cat’s Whiskers that featured Canadiana furniture. After several years in Toronto, David started a business, Comcrest, which sold insignia and specially crested products. They relocated the family business to Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1966 where they happily settled with their family. Barbara’s adventurous and gentle spirit touched all those who knew her.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Diabetes Association.
