Life Story for Elvino Sauro

Born October 2, 1932 to Rev. Libero and Clementina Sauro, Elvino passed after a lengthy illness on September 8, 2017. Beloved husband of Linda (Ross). Dear brother of Cinna Faveri (John) and Sylvia Lowry. Treasured brother-in-law of Longinia Sauro, Marilyn and R.J. Smith, Joan Hale and Alan and Nellie Ross, and remembered as a very dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Elvino was pre-deceased by brothers Alberindo, Italo, Olindo , Henry, Livio and Silvio.Elvino’s two special life interests were music and film. He established, several years ago, the Elvino Sauro Film Award in the School of Image Arts at Ryerson (contact sari.disenhouse@ryerson.ca, 416-979-5000 x 7644, or ryerson.ca/supporting) and more recently the Elvino Sauro Music Award at North Toronto Collegiate Institute (ntci.on.ca/foundation or 416-393-8585). If you wish to honour his memory, donations to either of these two endowments will promote his passion for higher learning in the arts.
Special thanks to Dr. Raimund Pahapill (Toronto) and Dr. Tim Bastedo (Niagara-on-the-Lake) for their wise and kind care of Elvino over many years.
Memories, photos and Condolences can be shared at www.morganfuneral.com Morgan Funeral Home, Niagara-on-the-Lake. As per Elvino’s wish, there will be no funeral, and cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life for family, friends and former colleagues will take place at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club, 141 Wilson Avenue, on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
