I had the pleasure of working with Roger + Lou from 1987 to about 2010. Roger was a great client and became a great friend over the 20+ years we worked together. It is very sad to learn of his passing and I was unfortunately out of town when the service was held. My memories of Roger are widely varied from his role as a highly respected leader in the development community, his ability to deal fairly and proactively with residents and municipalities and his ability to do the right thing. His skills were crafted over a long and successful career and he always was able to find a positive to any situation. He often told the public to great laughter "my name is Roger Cunnington, I am the dirty developer proposing this project". That was always a great icebreaker and everyone warmed to him quickly. Roger and Lou always treated everyone fairly and with respect, our office was no exception. I learned many things from Roger working on their high profile development projects in a number of communities across southern Ontario. He was a gentleman with a great sense of humour. We knew Roger during his plaid shirt period, which followed his suit and tie period. I was also fortunate to travel with Roger to Kentucky and Vermont to take woodworking (chair making and bowl turning) courses. Always great memories such as small things like buying 5 of the same plaid shirts because he liked them and the price was good. I will sincerely miss Roger and am grateful that our paths of life crossed and he was patient teaching me how to develop land and be respected professionally. Roger was highly respected by everyone he dealt with, even when they did not agree, he was still respected. Joan, David, my thoughts are with you as we remember a wonderful man and a great teacher and leader. Respectfully, Glenn
