JAMES, Kelly Melville – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Kelly on Friday 16 December 2016 after a short illness. Beloved husband of Janet for 39 years, loving father of Michael (Amy), Charles (Elaine) and Robyn (Paul) and cherished grandfather of Ethan, Allison, Shayne, Phoenix, and Charles Jr. and a great-grandfather to Gabrielle and William. Dearly loved brother of Louise, Marguerite, the late Donald, and brother-in-law of Lynda. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Kelly was very artistic and spent time at OCAD before moving on to the University of Toronto graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He joined ERCO Industries in 1957 and had a long, varied and successful career in the chemical business for the next 35 years. Kelly handled corporate and community affairs for the company, was a lecturer on economic development, and sat on many Boards and Associations, receiving many awards and accolades for his work. He later owned and managed his own consultancy in communications and government affairs. After retirement in 1999 Kelly and Janet moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake and quickly became involved in the community. He shared his time generously and he was very involved with St. Mark’s, his Parish Church, and worked on many projects there, as well he joined the Board of Directors for the Niagara Historical Museum and became Treasurer and later President for a four year term. Kelly had a passion for life which included a love for history, the arts, music, books, cooking, this beautiful town which he referred to as “Camelot”, and especially an unwavering love for this family. He will be sadly missed by his family, many friends, colleagues and neighbours. A service to celebrate Kelly’s life will be held at St. Mark’s Church on Wednesday 28 December 2016 at 11:00 am with a private family internment to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Church Historical Building Fund or the Niagara Historical Society & Museum.
