Life Story for Gilbert William Thomas Lloyd

Gilbert William Thomas Lloyd
He was born in London, England and when war was declared joined the Marines like his father had done. Because all the coal miners felt it was safer in the army than it was in the coal mines they registered for service and left few to mine the coal. Mr. Bevan decided to take a number and whoever had it at the end of their enlisted number went down into the mines. So Gil became a “Bevan Boy” and went down into the coal mines during the war. After wars end he went to work in a factory and worked up to Senior Management. In 1968 he immigrated to Canada and became the man his company sent to straighten out a plant that was in trouble. He retired at 63 years of age and moved with his wife, Lynn, to Niagara on the Lake where he lived happily for almost 20 years before his death.
