Life Story for John Joseph Van Moorsel

VAN MOORSEL, John Joseph - It is with deep sadness and yet, gratitude to God, that we announce the passing of John (Joannes) Joseph Van Moorsel, age 95, peacefully in his own home, surrounded by his family. He was such a blessing to his children Nick (Christine), Joanne Smith (Rick), Kate Cowood (Alan), Wilma Lowrey (Howard), David (Donna), Peter, Hank (Barb), and Barb Chalmers (Greg). He joins his wife Nell, and his grandsons Robert and Dean, who predeceased him. He will be missed by his grandchildren Jane (Dean), Christine (Nathan), Jennifer , Amy, Wesley (Tanya), Catherine (Steve), Dan (Shane), Doug (Vanessa), Daryl, Jason (Mie), Lisa (Joe), Jeremy, Megan, Erin (Ben), Kim (Jeff), Sara (Adam), Luke (Brandy), Jessica (Chris), Nick (Natasha), Crystal (Rickie), Carl, Carolyn, and 25 great- grandchildren. Born in Holland, John and Nell came to Canada in 1950, settled in the Niagara Region on a small farm and raised 8 children. John managed two jobs, working at General Motors at night and farming by day. He enjoyed 32 years of retirement on the farm. Our dad came from a large family, raised a large family and will be remembered by an even larger family.
